Cycle Studies is a network and knowledge platform dedicated to intersectional and feminist women’s health studies, led by researcher, artist, and activist Julia Mandoki. Cycle Studies offers education, consultancy, and counselling to organisations, groups, and individuals.

At Cycle Studies, we firmly believe in interdisciplinary approaches to navigate the complex interrelations of gender, mental health, and care provision. Our mission is to connect careseekers and organizations with trained counselors who specialize in integrating feminist ethics and gender empowerment education into therapy and coaching.

In 2026, Cycle Studies will proudly launch an in-depth 12-week online course designed to connect feminist philosophy and mental health studies with practical skills and practices.

meet Julia

As an researcher, activist and artist Julia is embodying the crossroads of interdisciplinary perspectives. Her work is driven by inclusive dialogues for positive social change, rooted in the exploration of women’s rights and altered states of consciousness. She presents her work at conferences, workshops, and academic lectures, and has a deep passion for facilitating counseling spaces for individuals.

After many years of working as a curator and project manager for the Institute of Ethnomedicine—an institute dedicated to bridging traditional healers and indigenous community voices with Western scientists and medical professionals—she became deeply committed to amplifying marginalized perspectives. Her advocacy centers on securing academic recognition for the standpoints and medical knowledge of Indigenous peoples, drawing substantial influence from non-Western modes of thought.

While working at the Institute of Ethnomedicine, she studied religious studies and anthropology in Munich, where she specialized in intercultural mediation and consciousness studies. Complementing this foundation, she is trained in intersectional therapy facilitation, menstrual coaching, and harm reduction, equipping her with a diverse toolkit to support holistic health approaches grounded in empowerment and cultural diversity.

After moving to Amsterdam in 2020, Julia joined the international nonprofit Women on Waves, a research and telehealth organization founded by Dr. Rebecca Gomperts, addressing global health disparities and promoting reproductive rights and accessible healthcare for women. Her experience in abortion care shaped her understanding of the complexity of gender, autonomy, and healthcare. Inspired to transfer her insights and knowledge on feminist empiricism, she investigated the intersections of women, feminism, and psychedelic research, asking radically new questions about the origins of consciousness, bioethics, and gender-blindness in psychedelic sciences.

Next to her social and academic engagements, Julia is a trained audio engineer and composer. She holds a degree in advanced audio production from Abbey Road Institute, where she is a resident lecturer on sound theory, psychoacoustics, and composition. As a musician, she performs on stages across Europe, produces her own records and integrates music as therapeutic tool in guided sessions.

Her creativity is a driving force behind the creation of Cycle Studies, an interdisciplinary health platform for women. Combining feminist philosophy, academic rigor, and experience working with women, Julia’s main passion lies in education and empowerment—aimed at creating a better world for women, and a better future for everyone.
